Trust in the Lord thy God

Good afternoon to all my readers here on http://metanoiameans.com, MB here. Oh boy do I have a doozy to share with you today!

What’s the hardest thing for us to do as humans? Some of you might say to survive, but I’m going to present you with something even more difficult. To trust….

No, I’m not talking about your mother or your father or your best friend or the neighbor down the street or your teacher or whomever else you can think of. I’m talking about God.

A lot of us, myself included at times, find it hard to trust someone we can’t see, touch or audibly hear. That’s natural, as humans we are built with an innate distrust of anything that isn’t concrete. However, in the case of God, we must fight against that.

As you all know, I have embarked on a somewhat nomadic lifestyle journey that is both growing and strengthening my faith in God. This journey has taught me many things chief among them is that God is the only trustworthy being in existence. I’m not talking about the Islamic allah. I’m not talking about buddha. I’m not talking about krishna. I’m not talking about Osiris, or any of those gods from any other belief systems. The God I am talking about is the one true God. The god of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The Almighty triune God of the Bible. The creator and protector of the universe, YHWH.

Throughout my whole life, even when I wasn’t following him, even when I thought I could hide from him… He was always there. Who was always protecting me even when I didn’t know it. He was always leading me and guiding me through the various trials and tribulations that I’ve had to endure my entire life up until this point, even if I didn’t know it. Even when I had no trust for him, he never failed me. Now that I have earnestly begun to live for him and seek him in everything it couldn’t be any clearer that he is the one true God and the only one that we should trust.

Psalm 55:22 “Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you;
he will never permit the righteous to be moved.”

I take comfort in this verse when I read it. Why? Because to me it says. “no matter what is going on, there isn’t a single person or thing that will move you out of my will for you.” we all know that as humans we have free will, and that free will is to either obey or disobey God. If we choose to obey him and follow him and trust him…. There is no outside force that can remove us from his will.  There is a reason that the Lord’s prayer says “give us this day our daily bread”. What is that reason? It’s showing us that we must trust God both with and in everything. We’re not meant to worry about what we will eat, we’re not meant to worry about what we will wear, we’re not meant to worry about where we will sleep…. We’re not meant to worry about anything. But only to listen and obey our Lord and Master YHWH.

Matthew 6:25-34 “25 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? 28 And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, 29 yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
34 “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

As shown by the above scripture, the Lord is our provider in all things. He doesn’t always give us what we want, but he always gives us what we need. The fact that he provides for us is why he’s known as Jehovah Jireh which means “the Lord provides”.  He’s not just our provider though he’s our loving heavenly father. He doesn’t just provide for us because he created as he provides for us because he loves us and also because he loves us. He protects us as well. If we are in his will, we might suffer some bumps cuts, scrapes, and bruises along the way, but he won’t allow anything to end our lives until the day he himself does until the day he himself calls us home to be by his side forever.

My nomadic journey that I am currently on has afforded me a unique perspective. I don’t always know what I’m going to eat for the day if I’m going to at all. I don’t always know where I’m going to sleep for the night if I have somewhere at all. But what I do know through learning to trust, God is that he always has an answer and he always comes through. I have learned to bring my burdens before him in prayer and let him handle them. I encourage you all to do the same.

See ya when I see ya!
