Good morning all and welcome to yet another article by your friend MB!

This one is about a lesson that I myself am still learning but I felt it needed to be shared with you all.

As you can see, this one is about sacrificing what it is that we want. That means wants, desires and plans that do not align with God’s will for our lives.

But… what does that look like?

It looks like laying down your desire to control your own life and giving the controls over to God.

It looks like praying to God before we do ANYTHING and seeing if the idea in our heads is actually from him. (Aka “testing the spirits”)

It looks like and is letting go of everything that we want for ourselves and or have been planning our whole lives, letting go of the vision we have for our lives and instead picking up and embracing the plans and visions God has for our lives.

As God himself has told us in Isaiah 55:8-9

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
    neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.

“As the heavens are higher than the earth,
    so are my ways higher than your ways
    and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

He has plans for us all. Plans that he made even before time itself began. His will is what is best for us and he will not allow it to go unfufilled.

Remember as you think on this fact that he is the almighty creator of all things. Remember as you think on this fact that he created you to serve him and to be loved by him.

The only one who will serve him and be loved by him is the version of you that HE created; each and every thing that happens in our lives is meant to form and shape us into who he created us to be, the children that he loves and wants by his side for all eternity, singing songs of praise to him that are pleasing to his ears.

I don’t know about you, but to me that sounds beautiful and I want to be able to be with him and sing to him forever. In order to do that though,  I have to let go of my own vision for my life and pick up his instead.

Im not the only one who has to do that though. Anyone who wants to follow him also has to make these same sacrifices.

He created us by his own words and formed us by his own hands. He wont allow something or someone he didnt create to enter his kingdom.

He tells us this in the book of Isaiah as well, specifically Isaiah 55:11.

“So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”

This verse is saying that each and every one of us has a purpose for which we were both created and sent to earth. That purpose will become clear to all of us who seek his face daily and follow him. Everything that happens to us in both the pursuit and fulfillment of that purpose is meant to mold us into whom he created us to be. The versions of us that he created, the children that he knows and loves.

In the name of fulfilling my purpose and becoming who my Heavenly Father created me to be, I have had to sacrifice many dreams, visions and plans that I have had for my life, some of which were painful to let go of and some of which im still working on letting go of. Am I happy about it all of the time? No. However, I do know that doing it no matter how much it might hurt or bother me is what is best for me in the end.

Are there things you are holding on to that you know God wants you to sacrifice to him? Things that you know he wants you to drop?

The answer for each and every one of us is yes and I encourage all who are reading this to seek the lord’s face about those things in your life. Ask him to make them clear to you, to convict you of these things and to give you the strength to let them go.
