Good morning everyone and welcome to the first installment of the nuggets of knowledge series of this year! It’s been quite a while since God has given me an article for this particular series and I am so excited to share this one with you all today.
Double minded-ness… It is a real problem in christianity today. Before I can begin to tell you why though, I have to first define the word.
Double minded means to be undecided, wavering or inconsistent, torn between two conflicting desires, beliefs, or loyalties, leading to a lack of commitment, instability and hypocrisy in one’s actions and character.
Hopefully, just by reading the definition of the term, all of you who are reading this can see why it is such a devastating and prevalent problem in “christianity” today. Double minded church leaders, administrators and congregation members are making their churches (I will not call a double minded church God’s church) unstable, unreliable and dangerous cesspools of falsehood for all who darken their doorways, especially new believers.
James 1:8 “he is a double minded man, unstable in all his ways.”
A house that is built on an unstable foundation is certain to fall. Just as a church, theology or doctrine built on any foundation other than the rock of ages, Jesus himself is sure to crumble when the wind of truth, the mighty rushing wind of the Holy Spirit blows against it.
Churches that depart from certain pieces of scripture because “it’s outdated” or “it’s not inclusive” or “it doesn’t show the love of god” are pulling believers away from god and poisoning the minds of those who are new to the faith.
These days, churches want to preach inclusive “feel good” messages that pervert scripture, twisting it to fit the narrative they are trying to push.
These days leaders don’t want to preach about sin and the eternal punishment that comes with it. They only want to preach about a god that is all sunshine and rainbows. They want to preach about a savior yes but I ask you, what would this false version of Jesus be saving us from if there is no discussion of sin and hell? Hurt feelings? Stubbed toes? Broken bones? A runny nose?
I don’t know about any of you but I would rather every bone in my body be broken but my soul saved and sins forgiven than to live a life with no trouble but an eternity in pain, suffering and torment. Please read the following verse carefully.
Matthew 22:13 “ the king said to the attendants, “bind him hand and foot and cast him into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
This verse along with many others is avoided at all costs in progressive christian theology because it shows the punishment for all of those who live in sin, all of those who do not accept the true christ Jesus as their lord and savior and all of those who walk outside of his will.
Jesus himself says in god’s word that we will have trouble in this life, we will go through pain but to not despair because he himself has overcome the world.
John 16:33 “ I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
I say all of this to you all today because it needs to be said.
I beg of you all to read tried and true translations of the Bible (I personally read the King James Version and the English standard version, kjv and esv respectively) and go to churches that read, believe and teach the Bible.
Please take the time to test the spirits of everything you are taught in your churches or churches you may visit. If it does not align with the true word of god, his bible, then do not believe it and leave the church immediately.
What does that mean though, test the spirits? When you read or hear something about god, go into the Bible and read about it. Always make sure it lines up. For example, people who practice homosexuality along with other forms of sexual immorality and false teachers that say it’s ok will tell you that the Bible does not speak about it. This is completely wrong.
See the following verses:
1 corinthians 6:9
1 Timothy 1:10
Leviticus 20:10
Deuteronomy 22:13
Matthew 15:19
Matthew 19:9
Mark 7:21
John 8:41
Acts 15:20-29
Acts 21:25
Romans 13:13
1 corinthians 5:1
1 corinthians 5:11
There are quite a few more.
The false teachings of progressive christianity have chosen the issue of sexual immorality to be the hill they die on.
God’s word is immutable, infallible, unchanging and eternal. Anyone who believes they can change it along with anyone who follows these changes is in for a rude awakening. I pray that wont be any of you who are reading this.
