In recent months, I have become aware of an alarming amount of corruption in the church. Most of this featuring non-disclosure agreements or NDAs. In the body of Christ, there are no such agreements. Those agreements are meant for corporations, not churches. They are meant to protect trade secrets, not conceal practices of clergymen. God’s word tells us to freely speak of god’s power, goodness, love and desire for fellowship with us. It tells us to freely speak of Jesus Christ, who by all worldly definition should be the best kept secret of the church, the very reason, purpose, and subject of an NDA. However, Jesus Christ himself tells us in the great commission found in Matthew 28:18-20… ““All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

If Jesus tells us to freely speak of him to all who will hear… would that not be something of a full disclosure agreement or FDA if you will? Jesus wants all of us to talk about him and the wonders gift. He gave us by dying on the cross as propitiation for our sins. He wants the world to know that forgiveness can be found in him. He wants us to know that we can be saved, we can be reborn, we can be with God. I have learned one thing about these NDAs being used in churches. I’ve learned that they are used to hide or at least attempt to hide sinful practices carried out by church leaders. Things that God does not condone and will punish on the day of judgment.  

“Be sure, your sin will find you out”

Numbers 32: 23 “ But if you will not do so, behold, you have sinned against the Lord, and be sure your sin will find you out.”

In closing, no matter what church you go to… Be wary. Don’t take everything that is said at face value. Educate yourself in God’s word. Immerse yourself in it, let it become part of you through daily study. Doing so will keep you safe. Doing so will keep you aware. Don’t let the wolves in sheep’s clothing lead you to their dinner table. Instead, learn their strategies. Learn the ways in which they hunt so that you will never become their meal.
