Unimaginable suffering, in the name of unfathomable love

2026 years ago today, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was crucified; at the time at which I’m writing this article, 9 AM, He was already hanging on the cross suffering and dying for us all.

He was suffering under not just physical pain, but spiritual pain from the weight of all sin that was heaped upon his shoulders.

He gave up his human life, the finite life, So that we could pick up his infinite life.

It is known that our Lord died officially at 3 PM on this day 2026 years ago.

He left the world of flesh and bone, the world bound by time, and stepped into eternity.

He descended into hell, a place not meant for anyone but Satan and his demons, but certainly not meant for him.

He went down to that place of eternal punishment to take control of it, to take the keys to death and hell themselves, so that none but him could say they have control over life and death.

He traveled to that forsaken place so that we don’t have to.

He conquered death and hell with his death on the cross.

And this coming Sunday, Resurrection Sunday (Easter), is the day he rose out of that borrowed tomb and walked the Earth again, resurrected by the power of the Holy Spirit, thereby defeating the grave.

Why did he do this? He did it because he loves us. He loved everyone on earth then, everyone on earth prior and everyone on earth since.

He loved all of us enough to die for us.

Some of us say that we love someone enough to die for them.

Talk is cheap, but Jesus did it.

Through his death and resurrection, he gave us a way to join him in eternal life. He gave us a way to be freed from the shackles of sin and embraced by the loving arms of righteousness.

He gave us who were born into sin a way to be reborn into sanctity. He gave us a way to be called children of God and not sons of the devil.

Where there was no way….

God made a way….

He made the way…

And his name is Jesus Christ.
