We are the watchmen

(Verses incoming)

“…and if he sees the sword coming upon the land and blows the trumpet and warns the people, then if anyone who hears the sound of the trumpet does not take warning, and the sword comes and takes him away, his blood shall be upon his own head.

He heard the sound of the trumpet and did not take warning; his blood shall be upon himself.

But if he had taken warning, he would have saved his life.

But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, so that the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any one of them, that person is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at the watchman’s hand.

“So you, son of man, I have made a watchman for the house of Israel.

Whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you shall give them warning from me. If I say to the wicked, “O wicked one, you shall surely die,” and you do not speak to warn the wicked to turn from his way, that wicked person shall die in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand.

But if you warn the wicked to turn from his way, and he does not turn from his way, that person shall die in his iniquity, but you will have delivered your soul.”

Brothers and sisters in Christ, consider the scripture above from the book of Ezekiel, specifically chapter 33:3-9.

Brothers and sisters, we are the watchmen of this world. We can see the devil in the world doing his wicked work. We can see the state of this world spiritually.

It is our duty to warn everyone else of the devil and his plans, his activities in our day-to-day lives.

It is imperative that we warn people of the evil that surrounds us. It is imperative that we encourage them to guard against the enemy that is coming to destroy them.

If we do so, then we have done our job as the watchmen.

If we do so, and they do not listen, what happens to them is on their heads, their blood is on their own hands.

But if we do not warn them—If we do not try to point them to Jesus, if we do not try to steer them away from darkness and into his light—then we have failed. We have failed as watchmen… and for our failure, with the blood of the wicked and the deceived on our hands, we will be punished.

Do not let the enemy tell you not to speak about Jesus to those who don’t know him.

Do not let the enemy convince you that sin can be overlooked.

Do not let him convince you that sin can and should be accepted.

Do not let him trick you into turning your heart away from God’s creations.

Do not let him deceive you.

Do not let him fool you into failing your responsibility as the watchmen.

Speak the gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ.

Share your testimony, share your faith.

You never know who is listening.

Be an alert and ready watchmen.

Don’t be the sleeping doorman.
