Good morning everyone, today I was thinking about faith and how an atheist sometimes says that anything that requires faith for it to be true is not rational and should not be believed.

I submit to you that an atheist has just as much faith as a Christian does. It’s just misplaced.

Let’s look at two very important terms in the scientific world to start this off: a theory and a hypothesis.

A hypothesis is a testable, specific prediction about how things will work, often used as a starting point for experiments.

A theory is a well-substantiated explanation of phenomena based on a body of evidence and repeated testing over time.

Sounds pretty concrete, right?

Wrong.

Why is it wrong? It’s because there are many things that cannot be repeated in science.

Let’s take for example the creation of the first life forms on earth. I say creation because I am a Christian and I believe God created us. I believe that we were not created through the evolution of Stardust or some sort of organism inside a primordial soup that has no origin to speak of.

I believe that we were created by the all knowing and all powerful God by his very own loving hands.

So… Right now, everything about the science of evolution is nothing more than a theory, at best… A hypothesis.

Why?

Because we cannot replicate the process by which man was created. We cannot create some sort of primordial soup that cannot just sustain life but create it. There is no concrete evidence that suggests a chain of evolution. That’s why it’s only known as a theory.

What does this have to do with atheists having faith?

Everything….

Atheists say we believe in something impossible… We believe in something fantastical… We believe in something so outlandish that it’s nonsensical—all because they claim we cannot prove anything.

They say our faith is blind.

I submit to you that they possess the same faith, it’s just misplaced.

They preach from a Bible of human knowledge…

We Christians preach from the Bible given to us by the God that has infinite knowledge, the one true and living God.

They cannot replicate the creation of man. God does every time a new child is born.

He has allowed us to understand that phase, yes, but to understand how he created everything from nothing takes faith.

It is the same with the theory of evolution and any other scientific theory that tries to remove God from the equation.

Scientists think they know a lot; some even think they know nearly everything there is to know. However, some are smart enough to admit that there is much they don’t know. Some of them are smart enough to admit that collectively, through the beginning of human scientific study until now, they know less than one percent of what there is to know.

So… If you know less than one percent of what there is to know, how can you know, Mr. scientist, that “there is no God?”

How can you be sure that your theory of evolution is correct if you cannot replicate it?

How can you know that your theory about the creation of the universe is correct if you cannot replicate it?

The answer is you can’t.

To believe in something you cannot see,

To believe in something you cannot understand fully,

To believe in something you cannot replicate at all let alone at will

Takes faith

Mr. scientist… You have faith

It’s just misplaced.
